Landslide

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide (Video)

A friend of mine that I graduated high school with had this song on her facebook. She has had a really hard time after losing her husband.  Songs that have been around as long as this one, even re-made, have something about them that not all songs have.  I think everyone can relate to this song somehow.  It may mean something different to all of us, but it has been a popular song all these years for a reason.  It is a sad song, while being an honest song at the same time.

This song speaks to me about my kids.  I have been a stay at home mom and now a single mom and my whole life has been devoted to my kids.  I have never been away from them more than a night.  I know a lot of people think that isn't good for the parent or child, but it is what worked for me and I have no regrets.  There will be plenty of time for me to get out and travel and do what I want to when my kids are grown. I certainly don't blame parents who do go and do things without their kids, it is just something I didn't want to do. I still have a good bit of time with them and a lot of fun times ahead.  My daughter will be a senior this year and my boys will be in 9th and 7th grade.  So, I hardly have their raising behind me, but we are going through just enough changes that it is becoming a reality to me that one day they will all be grown.  That is what this song means to me.

I have said before, I don't like changes.  I would keep us all in a safe little bubble if I could, but that is not the life God put us here to live.  They are supposed to get out on their own and do what God put them here to do. I believe there are things God wants me to do after raising my kids.  After all, if they are anything like me, my sister, and brother, and they are, they won't go very far.  We are still on the same street with our parents!

Thank you, Ginger, for putting these lyrics on your status.  I know you have had a hard time, but I also know you are strong enough "to rise above it."  Nobody has a perfect life and we all face some kind of challenges and changes.  I honestly believe the important thing is not what the challenges are as much as how we handle them and also how we support and help each other get through them. I believe this life is all a test. Being good to ourselves and each other makes any struggle so much easier!  And, if you get back what you give out, we will all be glad at some time to get back that love and support we have given out to others when they needed it most.

Landslide

Track #:
14
I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
till the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life
Well, Ive been afraid of changing
cause Ive built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
Im getting older too
Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down
