Freaky Friday......Clowns

The people who know me well probably would have thought this would have been the first thing I listed that freaks me out.  I think subconsciously, I was putting it off, but decided to bite the bullet and get it over with!  I am TERRIFIED of clowns.

I don't really know why.  All I know is it is creepy to me that you can't tell their real expression.  They have on all of that makeup and their emotions are drawn on.  That, and I have seen movies like It by Stephen King.

I have also seen the movies about John Wayne Gacy that dressed as a clown as his cover as he killed many young boys and kept their bodies under his house.

They are not so cute anymore are they?!

I remember one day, a few years ago, driving down the expressway and a car came up alongside me and I looked over to see a clown driving.  I guess he was going to a kid's party or something, or at least I hope so, because it wasn't anywhere near Halloween!

I have always loved watching any kind of scary movies.  I am a complete scaredy cat and don't like the dark, but I still love watching them. I like a good ghost or haunting kind of movie.  I think others will agree that ghost kids are the creepiest.  Movies that have creepy kids can be really scary.  Soooo, I don't care for kid clowns either.

Well, there is one exception.  The oldest of my nieces and nephews is Walt.  I always tell him how special he is to me because he is the one who made me an aunt.  My sister would not tell me what she was going to dress him as for his first Halloween.  She showed up at my house with this sweet little 4 month old in a baby clown suit.  She thought it would be scary, but he only had on the suit.  If she had put all the makeup on him, I wouldn't have liked it as much.  But he was a pretty baby and his sweet little face overruled the clown outfit!

That Halloween I ended up creeping my sister out instead of the other way around.  I decided at the last minute to dress up as an old man.  I had on a suit and hat and old man mask looking like a mean old butler!  I opened the door with a serving tray in my hand.  The tray had all the candy on it.  The only trick was there was a severed head in the middle.  I got so cracked up at the adults that made their kids go get their candy and they waited on them at the street!  That was fun.  I love Halloween and the only time I came near being a clown was the time I dressed up as the little girl from the movie Halloween.  I have an entire room in my basement with Halloween decorations, but you won't find any clowns!

I didn't have to wear the clown face to copy this:

Seriously, I think it boils down to the fact that you can't see their true expression. Most kids like them, I am just a crazy, paranoid adult that thinks people who dress that way are hiding something!

Do you think they are cute or creepy?
