Congratulations to William and Kate on the birth of their son! Can you imagine having a pregnancy and labor knowing you are giving birth to a future king?! No pressure, no pressure at all. (No pun intended.)
It is a great day for them and history has been made, but don't all of us moms feel like Her Royal Highness when we have a baby? Seriously. I had three children and each time, I felt like I was the only woman in the world to give birth. You think you have just given the world a piece of heaven. It is totally normal for every woman to feel that they have done something nobody else has and have the most beautiful baby ever born. It is our right. After long months of sickness, gaining weight, backaches, and all of the other uncomfortable things, they are simply forgotten as soon as we see our bundle of joy. That first bad diaper kind of brings you back to reality, but it is an amazing moment for all women.
There are a couple of differences in most births and the birth of a future king.
We put bows on the mailbox or wooden storks in our yards, hardly the kind of announcement the third in line for king got today.
They had a town crier announce the arrival. Our crier is usually, well, the baby. They might as well played a video of the baby crying because I couldn't understand a damn thing this guy said.
All joking aside, it is an event in history. At the end of the day these two are a sweet young couple who have just had the most amazing, incredible experience of their lives. It is a good day for them and they are blessed. They also have a very special angel looking over them today.
Now, we just have to wait for the name.
