I love all my Real Housewives shows. Orange County may be my favorite because it is the oldest, but the New Jersey has always had me more hooked. I love the feisty women! I am a Southern girl, but you will see a Jersey temper if you mess with me or my family.
The RHONJ is really getting on my nerves, though. The last two weeks they went on a retreat to address all the family drama. TV or not, let me just say, if you are digging into emotions and trying to heal it is probably best to forego Happy Hour! SERIOUSLY! You cannot mend family troubles and drink. After you get everything straightened out go on a fun, boozy trip but you just can't talk about serious stuff while drinking. It never ends well!
You watch them make a little headway and then someone brings out a bottle. I need a drink watching this train wreck! When you have to drink to celebrate family getting along maybe you need a new therapist and/or family! It is just crazy. At least if everybody gets drunk enough maybe they won't remember getting mad or why.
Call me crazy, but I take family very seriously and you don't want to say something you can't take back. No family is perfect, but you just have to care more about the people in your life and their feelings than you care about your good time. Family is too precious and you have to treat it as such. I would never forgive myself if I said something to harm those so dear to me because of a lack of self control.
I honestly don't believe there is anything wrong with having a drink or two, but you have to have a respect for it or it will have none for you. Casual drinking is totally different than drinking during a retreat to heal your broken family.
